Homemade Baked Beans with Sausage is a childhood favorite we love for dinner or a hearty side dish at summertime barbecues.
Baked Beans with Sausage is definitely comfort food dinner for me..
My Granny would make Baked Beans with Sausage all the time when I was a kid and it was always a favorite!
Soak overnight 1 pound Dried Great Northern Beans covered with about water 2 inches of water. Drain beans and cover with water in a large soup pot. Boil until tender and reserve 3 cups liquid from the cooked beans.
In a large soup pot add:
- 2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 whole Onion, Diced
Add:
- 4 cloves Garlic Minced
- 4 tablespoon Tomato Paste
Add:
- 1/4 cup Molasses
- 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Granulated Garlic
- 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
- 1 tablespoon White Wine Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar
- Cooked Beans
Bring to a simmer, cover and cook over low heat or add to the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours.
If cooking on the stove top cook a minimum of 2 hours.
Chop and add 1 pound Smoked Sausage to the beans. I like Linguica, Andouille or whatever other smoked sausage I have on hand that I think would go well with baked beans.
Cook for 1 additional hour over low heat.
Baked Beans with Sausage is a delicious hearty comfort food recipe and great way to use up dried beans! I hope you love it as much as we do!

Make sure to stop by and see Mama Mallard's baby ducklings. She took them to the lake Memorial Day morning. It was a very precious! We really enjoyed the experience. :)
Have a great week Serena!

Delicious dish, love stockpot as it easy to make dinner.Beans and sausage sounds winning combo.
I'm loving your step by step, even for something as simple as Boston Baked Beans. I know Heinz beans are good, but any properly made are just irresistible. Looking forward to more.
