Fried Hot Wings

Fried Hot Wings are a favorite in our house while watching football. We make these almost weekly and are in the top 5 for most requested things to have for dinner anytime. The use of more than 1 hot sauce is what really make these addicting.

It just wouldn't be game day without deep Fried Hot Wings in our house. Whether serving as an appetizer or main dish you can't go wrong. Letting the chicken wings rest in the flour allows the seasoned flour to create that delicious crunchy coating to the Hot Wings skin that makes these a crowd pleaser.

One of the ways we enjoy hot wings around here is Fried Hot Wings.

We also love Boneless Hot Wings, the fabulous Baked Hot Wing, Sticky Chipotle Honey Baked Wings, and the good 'ol Roasted Strawberry Chipotle BBQ Hot Wings.

There's something for everyone including baked for your girlish figure. But right now's not about the girlish figure just some darn good wingie dingies.

More or less it's crispy crunchy fried chicken dipped into hot sauce. Need I say more? I thought I might share the recipe since we've kind of been on a football party theme lately and Fried Hot Wings are a must for a party.

A large stainless steel bowl with flour and spices in it.

Mix together large bowl or zip loc bag:
  • 3 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 3 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 3 teaspoons Smoked Paprika
Chicken Wing Pieces coasted in seasoned flour in a stainless steel bowl.

Add 3 1/2 pounds Chicken Wing Pieces and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Chicken Wings frying in oil in a cast iron pan.

Heat 1 1/2 cups oil (I used olive but canola works well too) over medium heat in a heavy duty pan like cast iron. About 350 degrees on a deep fry thermometer.

When oil is hot add about half of wings. DO NOT CROWD PAN.

Turn when brown.

When wings are brown on both sides remove to a large bowl.

Hot Sauce with butter being drizzled over Fried Hot Wings in a large stainless steel bowl.

Warm in a small pan over low heat:
  • 1 cup Franks Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Cholula Hot Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Butter
When butter is melted and hot toss wings with enough sauce to coat.

Delicious - I like that you seasoned the flour mix as well and then also sauced it up.

These were delicious! I am very picky when it comes to buffalo wings and the sauce was great. I made them boneless the second time. Just as yummy! Thanks!
