Buffalo Ranch Popcorn From Scratch No Ranch Packet

If you love Hot Wings, Buffalo Ranch Popcorn will quickly become a favorite party snack or for your next movie night! A super simple ingredient list of popcorn, garlic, dill, cumin, salt, butter, and hot sauce means you just might have everything on hand to make this.

Oh my dear deliciousness! All I can say is Buffalo Ranch Popcorn was an amazing snack. The husband and I scarfed the bowl and had to make more to share with the kids!

I know we've all discussed my hot wing habit before and now I have even moved on to popcorn! I have made Baked Hot WingsFried Hot Wings and  Boneless Hot Wings.

I kept seeing Buffalo Ranch Popcorn on Pinterest but they all seemed to use a Ranch packet for seasoning. Problem number one I never have a Ranch packet.

Problem number two have you read the back of the Ranch packet ingredients? First MSG or aka Monosodium Glutamate, I don't know about you but for me I'm not into that. Maltodextrin, google it, what's really the point of adding this to ranch?

We'll just call it good there or I could ramble on all day!

But guess what friends I solved your problem! Homemade Buffalo Ranch Popcorn simply from scratch! Oh yes you heard me right no ranch packet here!

The best part is this is actually a fairly healthy snack considering there's only 4 tablespoons of butter and then you share the popcorn with say 4 or 5 people. Oh  and did I mention popcorn is super high in fiber, super cheap and low in calories? Score!

If you happen to need 1 more reason to make this it's serious man food ladies and your husband will think he's gone to heaven if he's a popcorn/hot wing kind of guy!

A down shot of a small glass bowl with granulated garlic, dried dill, cumin, and salt.

In a small bowl add:
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Dill
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
Mix until combined.

A white bowl with melted butter and a teaspoon of Hot Sauce being held over the top.

In another bowl melt 4 tablespoons Butter (if you want to add more I won't judge but we found the flavoring just right for us) and 2 teaspoons Franks Hot Sauce or your favorite (if you like it hotter feel free to add more).

Mix together well.

A large stainless steel bowl of popcorn with butter and hot sauce mixture being drizzled over the top in a small white bowl.

Drizzle butter/hot sauce mixture over the top of the popcorn while tossing to coat.

A stainless steel bowl of Buffalo Ranch Popcorn with ranch seasoning being sprinkled over the top.

Now toss popcorn with seasoning.

Dear deliciousness!

Now try to share with the ones you love but if you don't I already told you I won't judge.

This was the best popcorn I've ever had. Didn't think I would like it cuz of cumin but it was perfect. So so good. Thank you. Pinned and shared on FB!

I was just wondering if this would keep for a couple days in an airtight container?

Hi Jenny, I haven't ever been able to keep it around for a few days to try it out. If you are going to try it I'm thinking I would melt the butter until the water evaporates being careful not to brown to help prevent soggy popcorn. But if you test it please let me know!

My husband and I have a tradition of having popcorn for Sunday night dinner. I made this last week and couldn't keep my hand out of the bowl! It was awesome! Thanks for the great recipe.

I'm totally trying this!!!! I generally prefer sweet popcorn but we live in Mexico and Mexicans think sweet and popcorn don't go together. They like to put salsa on theirs. So I'm going to make this and share it with them and see what they think. Besides, i 'd like to try this stuff myself. And I'm glad there's no ranch packet needed. They don't sell them in mezico.☺

I love the idea of this - looks so good! Unfortunately, I don't think my execution was quite as good. :( I'm comparing mine to your pictures, and mine is SO buttery that I can't even pick up one piece without coating my hands (and I even reduced the butter by 1 Tbsp.). My kernels are much more coated with the seasoning, too. I threw some more buffalo sauce on after I made it because it wasn't quite buffalo-y enough for me (and I don't even like too spicy), but still it wasn't as great as I think it could be. Maybe I'll play with the measurements, because I love this idea. Thanks for the easy snack idea! :)

Fantastic recipe! We mixed in some Gorgonzola cheese (a creamy blue cheese) at the end. Perfection!
