We've been on a smoothie kick lately and with back to school right around the corner I figure there's no better time share our favorite busy morning breakfast Pineapple Strawberry Raspberry Smoothie.
Smoothies are a staple in our house since they are so easy to make and delicious.
These are our go to breakfast when the kids forget to do their homework the night before, one of the kids shoes turns up missing, and the dog somehow got into the garbage can and made a huge mess. Or the best mornings are when buddy sneaks out the door as the oldest is leaving for school and I have to toss on stretch pants and run around the neighborhood chasing after him as he stops to look at me, waits till I get close, and then he takes off at 90 miles an hour only to finally decide he's tired and return home with about 20 minutes to get the kids out the door to school.
I hope I'm not alone in this kind of morning excitement.
I usually sneak in a few veggies but for this particular combo Colt and the kids picked
Pineapple Strawberry Raspberry Banana.
Favorite facts: Did you know Pineapple contains a anti-imflammatory enzyme called bromelain?
Bromelian naturally helps reduce inflammation in the body.
The best way to choose a fresh pineapple is by smell, if it smells like a sweet pineapple it's ready to eat, if the pineapple doesn't smell sweet it will not ripen any further at home.
Pineapples stop ripening once picked unlike other fruit.
Gather pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, bananas, yogurt, milk and ice.
Slice bananas or peel and toss into blender whole.
Stem strawberries.
Remove the skin off the pineapple and cut off the top and bottom. We leave the core intact since it has the highest amount of bromelian.
When I was a child Granny would cut the core out of a sweet pineapple and let me eat it as a treat. I find as long as the pineapple is ripe the core is good to eat other then being more fibrous.
Add 1 cup of each of the following pineapple, raspberries and strawberries. Add 2 peeled banana's.
Add 1 cup yogurt and 1 cup milk.
I've more recently been adding a scoop of Vanilla Protein Powder.
If you are dairy free you can sub your choice of milk (Coconut or Almond is good) for the yogurt.
Add 1 cup ice and blend until smooth. Leftovers are tasty frozen into popsicles for an afternoon treat.
No better way to start the morning then a smoothie! Leftover Smoothie mix makes delicious popsicles the kids love!

Yummy and delicious!
Beautiful Pineapple Strawberry Raspberry and Banana Smoothies, girl! So healthy and they look delish. Glad you are spreading the word about bromelain as an important anti-inflammatory nutrient. You might want to correct the spelling in your article though. :) So nice of you to stop over at my blog. Meanwhile, I look forward to following yours. Pinning! xo
Eek! Thanks so much Stacy for catching my error! Spell check wanted to make it bromeliad and it was a wrestling match to try and keep it the right word, I guess I still lost! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Thanks Audra! Glad you made it back safely from vacation!
Oh Serena, those photos make me want to dive into that smoothie and not come out til it was all gone.
SOOTHING,HEALTHFUL AND DELICIOUS SIP...THANKS FOR THE INFO,THIS WILL NOW BE OUR GO TO COMBINATION FOR A SMOOTHIE WHILE HURRYING FOR A BREAKFAST...
YOU HAVE AN ADORABLE BLOG! :-)
Our puppy's name is buddy too. Our mornings before school and work are just as crazy as yours if that makes you feel any better. The only difference is we live in an apartment here in Hong Kong so the farthest the dog can run is to the neighbors door across the hall. My youngest boy has smoothies every morning before school and he starts school tomorrow and we have some fresh pineapple in the fridge so will have to give your recipe a try. Take Care, BAM
Hi Serena! This smoothie looks and sounds delicious! Love your fact about pineapple...I had no idea. :)
What a beautiful smoothie, although I would have to change the pineapple because bromelain can cause a number on my stomach. Great pics.
Hi Serena! I loved reading your info about the pineapple! Thanks for the shout out, too! Blessings!
