We call these Colt's Juicy Burgers at home. They're super simple but it's his signature burger.
He always gets asked what he adds to his burgers, so I thought I would finally convince him to share his secrets to a juicy burger. He even made a video to go with the recipe!
These are a family favorite and it's always requested that Colt makes his signature burgers.
When the weather's not nice enough to grill outside he'll even fry them in the cast iron pan in a little butter, making these a year around favorite.
Colts first tip is he always prefers to use Certified Angus Beef® Brand Ground Beef. All beef considered for the brand must be the best Choice, or Prime, beef- truly the top of the scale. The beef is then evaluated again for marbling, size, and uniformity. Only if it makes the cut it then earns the distinctive Certified Angus Beef® Brand label. You can read more about the grading process on the Certified Angus Beef® Brand website.
Colt then will usually choose 80/20 Ground Certified Angus Beef. The extra fat really helps to keep the burgers juicy. Haggen just started carrying the brand and only had 93/7 available so we stuck with the high quality Certified Angus Beef® Brand instead of a lower quality ground beef.
To make 6 of Colt's Juicy Burger patties you'll combine:
- 2 3/4 pound Certified Angus Beef® Brand Ground Beef
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce
- 3 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Granulated Garlic
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
Grill until desired doneness is reached. About a minute prior to being done add a slice of your favorite cheese if desired. We used Sharp Cheddar this time but the options are endless.
We always cook hamburger until well done in our house for safety which is 160 degrees on a meat thermometer.
When Colt makes burgers he almost always serves them as a burger bar so everyone can make their own.
Some of our usual accompaniments in our house are: Cooked Bacon, Sliced Hot Links or Andouille Sausage, Ketchup, Mustard, Mayonnaise, Hamburger Relish, Crisp Lettuce, Thin Sliced Red Onion, Sliced Tomatoes, Pickles, and Avocado. The possibilities are endless.
If you're really looking to make the burger special we love them in Homemade Cheddar Cheese Hamburger Buns or Homemade Crusty Hamburger Buns.
Some of our favorite side dishes to serve with the Burgers are:
I buy my Certified Angus Beef® Brand Steaks or Ground Beef at my local Haggen or QFC but you can use their Store Locator to find where it's sold in your area.
